Mouse Strain Rederivation By Embryo Transfer

LARC has established a new core facility to rederive mouse strains by embryo transfer. Rederivation is the most secure means for moving mouse strains from conventional facilities to specific pathogen-free facilities. Investigators interested in making use of the rederivation service should fill out the Rederivation Order Form.

To order a rederivation, you will need to provide the required billing and contact information (including a CAR approval number and a LARC Investigator Billing code). The current cost range for this service: $250-$500 for each strain that is rederived and will be processed as a LARC recharge at the time the order is placed.

Five to ten breeding pairs of mice will need to be provided to the facility for the rederivation to be performed. Additional information relating to scheduling, where to deliver donor mice, and where/when to pick up rederived mice will follow by email as soon as your order has been received.

Questions concerning the rederivation process should be directed to Nigel Killeen at nigel.killeen@ucsf.edu
