THE LABORATORY ANIMAL RESOURCE CENTER

LARC Rodent Program

CURRENT STATUS OF RODENT ROOMS

Sentinel Testing Results

Sentinel mice in all barrier rooms are tested approximately every ten weeks. Sentinels are euthanized for blood collection for murine virus and Mycoplasma titers. Fecal samples are collected for fecal flotation to test for pinworms. Cellophane tape samples are collected from dorsum and perineum to screen for pinworms and fur mites. Sentinels are not routinely tested for Helicobacter spp., Pasteurella pneumotropica or other bacterial agents.
